City by Casalgrande

The City Collection by KPF is the fruit of a collaboration with Casalgrande Padana that aspires to create a new collection of porcelain stoneware tiles for a vast array of interior design applications. Inspired by four cities KPF has a long-established relationship with, having worked on various buildings and districts there over the years, The City Collection comes in four patterns (Hong Kong, London, New York and Shanghai), in a 9mm-thick 60×120 cm size with a natural surface. The City Collection seeks to create a series of porcelain stoneware tiles that encapsulate the subjective experience of each place through reference to the character, materials, urban forms and textures of these remarkable cities. The models and textures evolved from a close look into the nature of each place, on various levels, and from a subsequent process of simplification and abstraction to create surfaces that mirror the natural materials.
