Luxury Home
This modern ranch home south of Des Moines features a striking black-and-white color palette inside and out. Executing a sophisticated vision like this requires more than just beautiful materials. It involves global coordination and detailed technical consulting.
Because the project and design team were outside Tile X Design’s usual territory, Italian vendor Italgraniti Group referred the project directly to Tile X Design to serve as the local logistics partner.
Read how Tile X Design Commercial Sales Representative Jennifer Christopher helped coordinate between Italgraniti Group, designer Projects Contemporary Furniture, builder Renda Building Corporation, and tile installer Bertini Tile, LLC for a successful end result.
Navigating Global Timelines & Material Pivots
The stunning exterior of this home features Landmark Outdoor 2cm Patio Pavers surrounding the fire pit, pool deck, and pool house. Because keeping a large build on schedule is tough, these specific pavers were chosen in part for their reliable, quick-ship option. However, the project still hit a snag when the specialized trim pieces faced production delays in Italy.
To keep the project moving forward, Jennifer helped the team pivot through the planning and selection challenges, ensuring the design stayed intact.
Tile X Design also provided contractor recommendations for the outdoor space, recommending Bertini Tile, LLC to handle the pavers. Once the order was placed with the Italian vendor, Tile X Design served as the central coordination hub, keeping the contractor informed about the shipping timeline so local labor could be scheduled to keep the project on track.
Installing Large-Format Tiles with Precision
Inside the home, the primary en suite is the crown jewel with book-matched Italgraniti large-format porcelain panels. Achieving this clean, continuous design takes an immense amount of unseen work.
As Jennifer explains, “There is a lot of extra detailing and planning when it comes to specifying and installing large-scale continuous veining panels and pavers with lots of trim pieces.”
The rigorous planning paid off, with the final result a flawless execution of the designer’s vision.
“The continuous veining Panda panels in the primary en suite are stunning and unlike anything else on the market!” says Jennifer. “They are a showstopper with the largest visual impact.”
Creating Balance with Porcelain Wood Planks
With bold black and white tile running throughout the home, the spaces needed something to soften the look and make the house feel warm and inviting. The design team wanted the look of natural wood to bring in that warmth, but real hardwood isn’t always practical for high-traffic or moisture-prone areas like kitchens.
This is another area where Tile X Design’s material expertise came in. Jennifer helped specify Allure by Italgraniti, a porcelain wood-plank tile that gives the kitchen, living room, and bedrooms the look of natural timber with the durability of tile.
By managing the complex layout requirements of the continuous-veining panels and untangling international shipping delays, Tile X Design’s work shows that a local logistics partner is just as critical as the tile itself.
