Steeltech by Casalgrande

Collection Summary

Steeltech by Casalgrande Padana is a metal-effect porcelain stoneware collection for floors and walls in which the warm chrome effects of Corten steel merge with metal oxides to create layered color combinations. Four colors, Corten, Beige, Grigio, and Antracite, come in natural and glossy (lappato) finishes at 10 mm. Formats include 24×24″, 35×35″, 18×35″, and 24×47″, a 35×35″ Decoro, and a 2×2″ mosaic. Large sizes and a metallic finish are the collection’s defining features.

Design & Aesthetic

Steeltech brings weathering steel and oxidized metal into an urban, modern palette. The Corten color is named for the weathering steel it evokes, while Beige, Grigio, and Antracite carry the same metallic surface in neutral tones. Large formats keep the metal effect reading as a continuous sheet rather than a pattern of small tiles. The Decoro tile, offered in matt and lappato (semi-polished), adds a decorative accent in each color. Tile X Design rates the collection V1.

Design Applications

Casalgrande Padana describes Steeltech for floors and walls in modern settings with an urban feel; Tile X Design lists floor and shower-floor applications. Scenarios include retail and loft-style floors in 35×35″ or 24×47″, Corten feature walls and fireplace surrounds, and decorative accent walls using the 35×35″ Decoro. Trims include step treads (30×60, 30×90, 30×120 cm), bullnose (9×60, 9×90 cm), and 90×33 cm assembled step and corner pieces.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Steeltech by Casalgrande Padana look like real Corten steel?

Steeltech’s Corten color reproduces the warm tones of weathering steel blended with metal-oxide effects. Unlike steel, porcelain does not continue to oxidize, so the color stays as installed (fade resistance: no change of colors).

Which Steeltech format suits a large open floor?

The 35×35″ and 24×47″ formats minimize joints so the metal effect reads as a continuous surface.

Can I use Steeltech glossy on floors?

Only the matte surface has a published rating (R9). Check the glossy finish’s rating before specifying it underfoot.
