Collection Overview

Collection Summary

Fusion by Novabell is a glazed porcelain stoneware tile collection made in one small brick format: 6 x 25 cm (2 3/8″ x 9 13/16″), 9 mm thick, with a glossy finish. The collection draws on traditional glossy glazed majolica and reproduces the look of handmade ceramics on a porcelain body, including color shading, surface imperfections, and irregularities that extend to the tile edges. Fusion comes in nine colors: Bianco, Beige, Grigio, Antracite, Nero, Blue, Acquamarina, Smeraldo, and Senape. Novabell positions Fusion primarily as a wall covering. It is also suitable for light-traffic floors.

Design & Aesthetic

The Fusion palette moves from soft neutrals (Bianco, Beige, Grigio) through deep tones (Antracite, Nero) to saturated colors: cobalt-leaning Blue, Acquamarina, emerald Smeraldo, and mustard Senape. The high-gloss glaze gives each color depth and reflects light across the wall, and that reflectivity is central to the collection’s character.

The handmade quality comes from small, deliberate inconsistencies. Shading shifts from tile to tile, and the imperfections continue to the edges, so a finished installation reads as artisan ceramic rather than uniform machine-made tile.

The narrow brick module works well for multi-color compositions. Nova Bell’s catalog shows combinations such as Blue with Bianco, Grigio with Antracite, and Nero with Senape and Blue. Because every color shares the same size and thickness, colors can be mixed within one field. The catalog also shows Fusion walls with Nova Bell’s larger wood-, marble-, and stone-look porcelain floors, so it can serve as a decorative counterpoint to quieter large-format surfaces.

Material & Craftsmanship

Fusion reinterprets artisan ceramic character in porcelain stoneware, combining a traditional majolica look with modern manufacturing technology. Nova Bell S.p.A. Ceramiche Italiane produces the collection and is based in Roteglia, in the Reggio Emilia province of Italy.

Design Applications

Fusion is intended mainly for interior wall coverings: kitchen backsplashes, bathroom walls, and feature walls where color and gloss are the focal point. Nova Bell also presents Fusion for refined commercial interiors. On floors, Fusion is limited to light-traffic interior areas.

Specifying Fusion

  • Floor use: Novabell rates Fusion for light traffic only. Its catalog advises keeping floor installations from contacting outdoor areas, as with any artisan-style material.
  • Variation: Variation is intentional. Tile X Design lists Fusion at V3. Review multiple pieces or a current sample board before finalizing a color.
  • Planning a mixed-color wall: Each color has its own product code, and quantities are calculated per color.
  • Packaging: Boxes hold 50 pieces covering 0.75 m², which matters when estimating small accent areas.
  • Floor safety: Slip resistance and other technical performance values are not in the available manufacturer documentation. Confirm them before specifying floors, especially in bathrooms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Fusion tile be used on floors?

Yes, but only in light-traffic interior areas. Nova Bell designs Fusion primarily for walls, and slip resistance data for the glossy surface should be confirmed before specifying it for a floor.

Can Fusion continue from an interior floor to a patio or exterior entry?

No. Nova Bell advises against floor installations that contact outdoor areas, so Fusion is not suited to indoor-outdoor continuity.

Is Fusion a handmade tile?

No. Fusion is porcelain stoneware that reproduces the look of handmade ceramic: color shading, surface imperfections, and irregular edges. It suits projects that want an artisan glazed-tile look in a porcelain product.

Can different Fusion colors be mixed on one wall?

Yes. All nine colors share the same 2×10″ size and 9 mm thickness, and Novabell shows multi-color compositions such as Grigio with Antracite and Nero with Senape and Blue.

How much variation should I expect between Fusion tiles?

Expect noticeable variation, because the shading and edge irregularity are intentional. Tile X Design lists the collection at V3, so review several pieces before committing to a color.
