Architectural Sales Rep – Wisconsin

At Tile X Design, we supply industry-leading ceramic and porcelain tile to homeowners in Minnesota and industry pros across the nation. We are seeking an experienced outside sales representative for our Wisconsin sales territory. The Architectural Sales Representative is responsible for promoting TXD products, establishing accounts, and selling to both new and existing clients, as well as collaborating with and providing support to clients from project start to finish. Success in this role relies heavily on achieving sales goals, nurturing profitable accounts, and establishing long-term clientele.


Continuously promote Tile X Design’s products and services in the commercial interior and architectural design field.

  • Identify prospects, customers, and referral sources and develop/maintain relationships to ensure the attainment of company sales goals. Continually grow the base of referral sources, which includes builders, contractors, retailers, designers, and architects.
  • Actively manage short and long-term leads from external referral sources to qualify prospects and advance them through the sales process. Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Plan and organize sales activities, effectively utilizing time and resources. Evaluate objectively and systematically the potential of each contractor, retailer, architect, and builder in your territory.
  • Active market listening (trend research) to aid the selection of future special orders or stock products. Handle customer complaints, provide appropriate solutions and alternatives within the time limits; follow up to ensure resolution.
  • Attend product training and trade shows.
  • Work collaboratively with Sales and Marketing teams.
  • Develop a call and in-person appointments schedule to cover territory, providing reports and keeping Sales Team and Principal informed on sales activities.
  • Prepare and Conduct client-tailored presentations and/or lunch-and-learns for effective product promotion.
  • Utilize a consultative sales approach, identifying solutions based on customer needs.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and selling skills, making effective use of phone and written correspondence between sales visits to reinforce and resell TXD products.
  • Manage an adequate supply of samples, literature, and other promotional items on hand to enhance sales effectiveness.
  • Travel as necessary throughout the territory to meet with prospects and existing customers to increase sales volume at a profitable level and meet established sales goals.
  • Partner with Principal to develop a sales strategy to effectively cover territory and achieve sales goals.

The successful candidate is a motivated self-starter energized by challenges and goals.

  • Commit time to meet established sales goals, demonstrating flexibility in scheduling to meet prospect and customer availability.
  • Develop a comprehensive knowledge of all company products through manufacturers, trade magazines, sales meetings, personal experiences, etc. This includes technical information, understanding the advantages or disadvantages of a product, and up-sell options or comparison information to competitor products.
  • Analyze your territory on a regular basis and make appropriate adjustments in your sales efforts.
  • Make effective use of internal resources including Principal, peers, other company staff, manufacturer’s representatives, etc.
  • Follow-up with prospects and customers in a timely manner.
  • Project a professional image in appearance and conduct yourself in an honest, ethical, helpful, courteous, creative, and enthusiastic manner.

Necessary skills and qualifications for success in the role include:

  • Technical or Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years experience in commercial interior design, architecture or material specification and sales
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Customer orientation and ability to adapt/respond to different types of characters
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively


  • Physical: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Travel: Regular travel is required, mostly driving and infrequent via plane. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • In-Person Meetings: Attend sales meetings and/or staff trainings held at our headquarters in Plymouth MN.


Job Type: Remote/WFH

Pay: $50,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year (Commission)

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday through Friday
